Training of Health Care Professionals
The Ballochmyle Medical Group is an accredited training practice and is involved in health research and the teaching of student nurses, doctors and other health care professionals. We will not use or disclose your personal health information for these purposes unless you have been informed beforehand and given your consent for us to do so.
We are pleased to be a training practice for postgraduate doctors who have worked in hospitals and are gaining experience of General Practice. GP Registrars and FY2 doctors are all fully qualified doctors and are an essential part of the team.
We believe that achieving and maintaining training practice status enhances the quality of the medical care that we provide at the practice. It also enables patients to see a wider range of clinicians whilst allowing the surgery to benefit from the fresh ideas and approaches brought by young enthusiastic doctors.
In order for the GP Registrars to successfully complete their training they need to be assessed on their consulting skills. This is done by the appointed assessors viewing a video of the registrar’s consultations and you may be asked for your permission to have your consultation recorded in this way. If you agree, you will need to give your written permission and you will be offered a consent form to sign.
If the doctor appears to be recording your consultation and you have not signed a consent form then you should indicate this to them immediately. The recording will be used for educational purposes only.
